Summer Academy Social Programme

The Social Programme enables students to socialise with friends whilst taking part in wellbeing activities and events. Both wellbeing activities and events take place in the evenings and allow students to enjoy the outstanding facilities at Wellington College.

Wellbeing Activity Programme

Our Wellbeing Programme provides the perfect opportunity for students to relax, be creative and rejuvenate around their studies. Students can choose from a variety of wellbeing activities during their course.

Wellbeing activities may include:

  • Recreational sports (football, volleyball, badminton)
  • Art workshops & museum visits
  • Reading & conversation clubs
  • Nature walks & board games
  • Wellness walks & yoga

Evening Events Programme

Our Events Programme brings everyone together in a variety of traditional British and international activities, providing many experiences for our students to have fun, be inspired and make new friends.

Typical events include:

  • Capture the flag
  • Photo challenge
  • Inter-college competition
  • International night
  • Challenge night
  • The Big Chill
  • Movie night
  • Disco

At the end of the course all students will attend a formal graduation party to celebrate their achievements. The evening consists of a three-course meal, presentations and a disco.


Students will go on two excursions per week and one excursion during the week of departure.

London Excursion

A grand day out in London! Our summer academy students will see many famous tourist attractions such as The Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and Big Ben, and visit a world-class attraction such as the London Eye or The British Museum. There will also be plenty of time for souvenir shopping and dinner at a London restaurant.

Oxford Academic Excursion

A day exploring the beautiful City of Spires. Students will have a guided walking tour to learn about the history of the city and its many university colleges and discover why it’s become one of the most famous cities in the world! At the end of the walking tour, students will gather in the historic Oxford Union for a talk on the fascinating history of Oxford University. In the afternoon, students will enjoy leisure time at the Westgate shopping centre.

Visit one of the UK’s biggest theme parks! Thorpe Park is home to over 30 of the UK’s most exciting and popular rollercoasters, attractions and events. This fun day out is the ultimate destination for all thrill seeking students.
